Infamous VS Famous

Infamous and famous are both adjectives used to describe a person or thing that is widely known, but they carry different connotations:

  • Famous: Widely known and admired for positive qualities or achievements.

    • Example: Nelson Mandela is famous for his role in ending apartheid in South Africa.
  • Infamous: Widely known for negative qualities or actions.

    • Example: Adolf Hitler is infamous for his role in the Holocaust.

In essence, while both terms indicate a high level of public awareness, "famous" implies a positive reputation, while "infamous" suggests a negative one.
