Verbs

Verbs are the heart of a sentence, expressing actions, states of being, or occurrences. They're essential for conveying meaning and creating vivid descriptions.

Types of Verbs

  1. Action Verbs: These verbs describe actions that can be physical or mental.

    • Physical Actions: run, jump, eat, write, throw
    • Mental Actions: think, believe, remember, imagine, dream
  2. Linking Verbs: These verbs connect the subject of a sentence to a noun, pronoun, or adjective that renames or describes the subject. Common linking verbs include:

  3. Helping Verbs: These verbs help the main verb express tense, mood, or voice. Common helping verbs include:

Verb Tenses

Verb tenses indicate when an action or state of being occurs. The three main tenses are:

Verb Conjugation
